The Buzzy is built on a stable four-wheel chassis that allows the steering and pedals to operate independently. This helps children steer without their feet losing contact with the pedals and provides a more balanced riding experience than a three-wheel design.
BERG’s Direct Drive system connects the pedals directly to the rear axle. Riders can pedal forward or backward and slow the kart by resisting or holding the pedals. Because the pedals remain engaged while the kart is moving, the drivetrain provides a simple and predictable riding experience for beginning riders.
Solid EVA tires provide a quiet, low-maintenance alternative to air-filled tires and cannot be punctured. A front swing axle helps the wheels remain in contact with the ground when traveling across minor surface variations, while the adjustable seat accommodates children within the recommended rider range.
The Buzzy is best suited to young children who are ready to begin pedaling but do not yet need the larger size or freewheel drivetrain found on BERG’s bigger pedal karts. Rider height is the most useful measurement when confirming fit, particularly for children who are taller or shorter than average for their age.
Direct Drive is intentionally simple, but parents should understand that the pedals continue turning whenever the kart moves. Children transitioning from a balance bike, tricycle, or another ride-on may need a little time to become comfortable controlling speed through the pedals.
Consider how close the child is to the upper end of the recommended fit range before purchasing. A child approaching the Buzzy’s maximum height may receive greater long-term use from the next appropriate BERG family, while a smaller beginning rider may find the compact Buzzy platform easier to operate.
BERG offers four current pedal-kart families sized for different stages of growth. Start with the rider’s height and ability to reach the pedals comfortably, then consider how much room for growth the family wants.
Buzzy
The Buzzy is BERG’s smallest pedal-kart family and is designed for the youngest riders. Its compact four-wheel design makes it a good introduction to pedaling and steering before moving into a larger kart.
Buddy
The Buddy is the next step up for growing riders who need more room than the Buzzy provides. It offers an adjustable seating position and a larger riding platform while remaining appropriately sized for younger children.
Rally
The Rally is designed for older and taller children who have outgrown the Buddy but are not yet ready for the full-size XL platform. It provides additional rider space and room for continued growth.
XL
The XL is BERG’s full-size pedal-kart platform for riders age 6 and older, including larger children, teens, and adults. It is the best BERG option when several family members will share one kart or when the customer wants the greatest amount of growing room.
The maximum rider weight for current XL models is 220 pounds.
Choose by Height and Fit
Age ranges are helpful, but height and proper pedal reach provide better fit guidance. The rider should be able to sit comfortably, reach the pedals throughout their full rotation, and steer without leaning or stretching.
Review the exact height range, weight capacity, and other specifications on the individual product page before ordering.
Allowing Room to Grow
A larger kart may provide more years of use, but buying too large can make pedaling and steering difficult. Choose the family that fits the rider properly now while still allowing reasonable adjustment as the rider grows.
Where It Will Be Ridden
Use the pedal kart on an appropriate riding surface away from traffic, steep slopes, hazardous obstacles, and unsafe areas. Tire style and riding characteristics may vary by family and model.
Review the individual product details to make sure the kart is appropriate for the intended riding area.
Accessories
Compatible accessories may be available for select BERG pedal-kart models. Accessories are sold separately unless the individual product listing specifically states that one is included.
Accessory compatibility varies by pedal-kart family and model. Always verify compatibility before ordering.

Warranty Support
BERG warranty claims and replacement parts are processed through the manufacturer. River City Play Systems can help direct customers to the appropriate warranty process, but approval, parts availability, and fulfillment timing are determined by BERG.
Manufacturer processing and replacement parts may require additional time. Customers should retain their receipt, product information, serial number, and photos of the affected component.
Warranty coverage does not include normal wear, misuse, improper assembly, accidents, unauthorized modifications, or items excluded by the manufacturer.
Q: Do the pedals continue moving while the Buzzy is rolling?
A: Yes. The Direct Drive system connects the pedals to the rear axle, so the pedals move whenever the kart moves.
Q: Can a child coast without pedaling?
A: No. Direct Drive does not include a freewheel function. The pedals remain engaged while the kart is moving.
Q: How does the rider brake?
A: The rider slows or stops the Buzzy by resisting or holding the pedals rather than using a separate hand or foot brake.
Q: Can the Buzzy travel backward?
A: Yes. The rider can move backward by pedaling backward.
Q: Can the tires go flat?
A: No. The Buzzy uses solid EVA tires that do not require air and cannot be punctured.
Q: Does the steering wheel turn the pedals?
A: No. Steering and pedaling operate independently, allowing the rider to turn while keeping their feet on the pedals.
Q: What size rider is the BERG Buzzy designed for?
A: BERG recommends the Buzzy for children ages 2–5 who measure approximately 33–45 inches tall and weigh no more than 66 pounds. Rider height should be used along with age when confirming fit.
